With the end now drawing near, Killing Eve stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer look back on the surprising success of their BBC America series.

Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer look back on the phenomenon sparked by their BBC America series Killing Eve in a new season 4 video. When it first premiered in 2018, Killing Eve took many viewers by surprise with its twisty female-fronted spy tale. The series itself is based on books written by Luke Jennings, though there have been notable differences between the two. Killing Eve centers on the cat-and-mouse relationship between Russian assassin Villanelle (Comer) and MI6 agent Eve Polastri (Oh), something that has only gotten more complicated as the show has continued.

With the upcoming season 4, Killing Eve is set to come to an end. The final season premieres next weekend on BBC America and will find its leading ladies in two very unique places. Killing Eve last left off with an unusually poignant moment for Villanelle and Eve, with the two women saying goodbye and going their separate ways. Season 4 now picks up with Villanelle attempting to reform herself through religion and Eve on a revenge mission. Fans can also rest assured that Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw) and Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) will be back for this last ride.

With the Killing Eve season 4 premiere nearly here, BBC America has released a new video that takes the main cast members on a trip down memory lane. Titled “Killing Eve: The Phenomenon,” the video features Oh, Comer, Shaw, and Bodnia, as well as the many female writers who headed up the series over the years, and looks back on the impact the show has had on the world. Check it out below.

Killing Eve was one of the biggest breakout shows of 2018, and its audience has only grown since. It turned Comer into an international star and allowed audiences to appreciate her talent well before movies like Free Guy and The Last Duel. As for Oh, Killing Eve proved to be the showcase she deserved after leaving Grey’s Anatomy in 2014. Both Oh and Comer have won awards for their performances. There’s no question that a great deal of Killing Eve‘s success has hinged on their chemistry and talents, and hopefully season 4 will give both actresses the sendoffs they deserve.

The general critical consensus surrounding Killing Eve has admittedly waned somewhat over the years, but it has always remained an entertaining depiction of dangerous women. As the above video hinted, there are still plenty of surprises ahead in season 4, and that can give the show a really great ending. Comer and Shaw will get to share meaningful scenes together, and, as has already been well documented, Eve and Villanelle will cross paths once again. It isn’t yet clear if everyone in Killing Eve will get a happy ending – and odds are, not everyone will – but it should still be a thrilling ride to the finish.

Killing Eve season 4 premieres Sunday, February 27 on BBC America and AMC+.
